We also have regularly negotiated and prepared legal documents, created business entities, represented businesses in transactions and assisted businesses in resolving disputes.   1. Employment Law – The firm offers general day to day advice on all matters involving employment issues, represents employers at all state, municipality and federal agencies where complaints have been served, writes and audits personnel handbooks and policies and procedures, conducts personnel investigations when there have been allegations of harassment, discrimination or other policy violations, and defends employers in state and federal court.
  2. Defense Litigation– The firm represents self-insured and insured businesses in all kinds of personal injury and property damage cases, including wrongful death, product liability, fires, explosions, construction litigation and premises liability.
  3. Harassment and Discrimination Training – Many employers have requested specialized training for their hourly paid employees and for their supervisors and we can tailor training for your industry. If you are required to provide mandatory training to your employees or supervisors by the Alaska State Human Rights Commission we can help fulfill that requirement. We can successfully obtain approval for the training and secure approval for any of the Commission’s requirements and secure closure of the case, with your cooperation.
  4. Personnel Investigations – Almost every employer at some point will face a charge of discrimination or harassment. It is vital to conduct an immediate, impartial investigation by a third party. We have substantial experience conducting personnel investigations and can quickly come on scene and evaluate what is needed depending on the type of allegation made and bring the matter to a conclusion.
  5. Business Transactions and Entity Formation – We have represented numerous small to medium size businesses in Alaska in forming their entities’, acquisition of other entities’ assets, negotiation and drafting of commercial leases, employment and independent contractor agreements, covenants not to compete, LLC membership buyouts and other business matters and disputes. We specialize in representing medical practices and advising them on Stark law, HIPAA, antitrust issues, covenants not to compete and Certificates of Need.
  6. Commercial Litigation – We have represented business clients in commercial matters that led to arbitration, including breach of contract, matters alleging fraud, covenants not to compete and financial mismanagement.
